OUTWORDS interview with Kylar W. Broadus, conducted by Mason Funk on August 7th, 2016 outside the Lavender Law conference in Washington D.C. Kylar is a lawyer, professor, activist, public speaker, and writer. IIn 2010, Kylar founded the Trans People of Color Coalition (TPOCC). In 2012, he became the first openly transgender person to testify before the U.S. Senate in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). In 2012 he received the Sue J. Hyde Award for Longevity in the Movement by the National LGBTQ Task Force, and the Pioneer Award from the Freedom Center of Social Justice.
