Mauricio introduces himself in this interview saying, "I am from Bucaramanga, Santander and I have had a very legal life in the sense that when I began to study law I also started to practice became engaged in activism in favor of the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons. With some feminist friends we founded a gender and sexuality group at university. When I finished my law studies, I came to Bogotá to pursue practical training at the Constitutional Court, under Judge Manuel José Cepeda, and I started to work in Colombia Diversa".
